Outlook 365 is an enterprise-grade email application from either Microsoft 365 or Office 365. It provides users with the ability to check their enterprise Exchange e-mails online from any web browser. Outlook 365 is a fully managed service that uses Microsoft Exchange server. The application makes it easy for you to open a web browser address online either on your Windows phone/tablet, Android smartphone, iPad or iPhone and log in to check your e-mail, instead of using Outlook on your local PC. The mail service is similar to other web email services such as Hotmail, AOL, Gmail, Yahoo, Live, etc.

Besides the enterprise email that Outlook 365 offers, it also provides everyday tools such as calendar and contacts information to help you bring your work in one place. You will need an Internet connection, a mobile device and a web browser to be able to use Outlook 365. In reality, Microsoft Exchange is an email management server software that runs on a data center. With Office 365, you can still access the Outlook previously installed on your PC. However, Outlook 365 helps you to have a direct internet connection to an Exchange server managed by Microsoft instead of using your company’s Exchange server.

Microsoft 365 vs. Office 365

The growth in application development has seen technology companies create solutions that appear to be the same product. More often than not, users of such solutions sparingly know the differences. A good example is the Microsoft 365 and Office 365. To an unsuspecting user, the two products are the same because they share common features and similar product names. But in reality, they are not as we shall see.

This is basically a Microsoft cloud-based productivity suite like Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, OneNote, SharePoint, Skype for Business, OneDrive, Teams, Planner, Yammer, etc.

Microsoft 365 is a bundle of services including Office 365 suite and other services including Windows 10 Enterprise, Enterprise Mobility & Security (EMS), and machine learning. It allows users to share and access files from anywhere using the Microsoft cloud platform. Microsoft 365 is a tool for collaboration and high productivity either at home or in the workplace. It allows you to create a secure portal on outlook where you can meet clients. With Microsoft 365, you can work collaboratively with others online from anywhere around the world.

Generally, Outlook is an application that you install on your local desktop and then use to connect to the Exchange server to check and manage your e-mail, contacts, and calendaring.
