Huawei Mate X is a foldable smartphone with 5G technology having three cameras and three screens. It is an innovative product of Huawei. Not only is the integration of 5G technology in the smartphone exceptional, but it is also a novel achievement. Huawei Mate X is a smartphone that is for 100,000 folds. This means that an average consumer will have a sense of satisfaction considering the number folds possible with Mate X.
The Huawei Mate X can be seen as a productivity tool among the foldable smartphone family. It offers users the ability to open different files or tabs at the same time when performing many tasks at the workplace. The design is a plus. Unlike its competitor – Galaxy Fold, Huawei Mate X offers an expanded view which means that it’s just one phone. Other foldable smartphones seem to be two phones in one.
Features of Huawei Mate X
The features of Huawei foldable 5G smartphone include:
1. Large Continuous Display
The Huawei Mate X unfolds outward with a large continuous display. When you fold it, the front forms a 6.6-inch display, while the back forms a 6.38-inch. Both sides swing out to form an 8-inch panel. This is unlike Samsung’s Galaxy Fold, which has a larger display that folds inward like a book. The two sides of Mate X are a bit stiff when you fold and unfold it. It locks with a little latch with the clicks in place. To unfold it, push the button on the spine to release the other side.
2. Three Cameras and Three Screens
The Huawei Mate X embeds its cameras on the thicker right rail. The 8-inch display gives full uninterrupted screen which is higher than the 7.3-inch screen on the Galaxy Fold.
3. 5G Technology
Huawei Mate X provides a 5G connection. According to the Chinese company, the ‘Balong 5000’ modem of Mate X is able to tap into theoretical peak speeds that are double what you can get from Qualcomm’s X50 5G modem. This is a great advantage for now due to the fact that Samsung’s Galaxy Fold doesn’t support 5G yet. With its 5G capability, you can interconnect various home and IoT devices.
4. Creative Product Design
Mate X looks very different as a result of interesting design choices by the product design team. Besides the looks, the foldable screen of the 5G gadget folds around the outside of the device, with the help of a patented hinge with over 100 components. This is not the case with Galaxy Fold which folds in on itself like a book, with the screen inside the device when you close it.
5. Security and Protective Cover
The 5G connection provides some level of encryption for more privacy and security when using the smartphone. It comes with a device cover in order to protect it from mechanical damage. The cover also bends around the folds.
6. Fast Battery Charging Speeds
According to Huawei, a 30-minute charge can add 85% battery power to the smartphone.
Huawei Mate X Pricing
Huawei Mate X comes with 512GB of internal memory and 8GB of RAM. Unlike the Galaxy Fold that will be commercially available in April 2019, the 5G smartphone will launch in the middle of 2019. According to the CEO Richard Yu, a unit of the smartphone will cost users the sum of €2299 or $2,600. The high price is as a result of the level of innovation that went into the creation of the phone. Price is expected to go down within 2 years after launch.
